I am often asked “What is your favorite card?”. That’s a fair, but tough, question. Often I will show “The adventures of Pollywog and Taddy Pole”, which was a set of cards issued with Frog In Your Throat lozenges.
The cards were listed by Jefferson Burdick under Trade Cards and were given the designation of H700. They were actually insert cards but that’s ok, at least they were identified and cataloged.
As with most of the things that I am chasing in my lifetime of collecting, these cards are relatively scarce. I’m not sure I’ll ever complete the set but once every couple of years a card seems to show up one way or another.

There are 20 cards in the set and I have seen examples or scans of all of them over time. The cards are approximately 1 1/4 x 2 1/4 or roughly 1/4 inch shorter and narrower than the standard tobacco card. They commonly have a checklist on the back of the card but can also be found with an offer back that doesn’t include a checklist.
The front of the cards come in 2 variations, a green border and a white border. Here are some samples of cards in the set, showing both border types along with a horizontal example.

Here are the backs of the cards, showing both variations. From my experience, the checklist back is more common.

The cards were issued in the early 1900s based on information included in some ephemera and research into the company. Here is a trade card that was issued by the company.

I profess to being rusty at writing about cards. Hopefully I’ll get back on the horse and start posting more content about different kinds of cards. Until then, please let me know if you have any Frog in Your Throat Cards!
Happy Collecting, Alan
